Dorothy Bickford

Dorothy Bickford is a native of Wilmington, Delaware and received a B.A. from Barnard College at Columbia University in 1968. Dorothy worked briefly as a caseworker for the New York City Child Welfare Bureau and then served as a VISTA Volunteer in Houston, Texas. Dorothy graduated cum laude from Boston University Law School in 1977 and was admitted that year to the Bar of New Hampshire. She was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1994.

Dorothy concentrates her practice in estate planning, probate, business planning, and related litigation. She has also served as legal counsel to the City of Somerworth, New Hampshire, has represented an independent telephone company in regulatory and business matters, has litigated workers' compensation and personal injury claims, and has argued appeals to the New Hampshire Supreme Court. Dorothy served as Secretary of the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council for nine years and was a member of that organization for eighteen years.

Dorothy is a member of the Boston Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Boston Estate Planning Council, the Boston Tax Council, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Massachusetts Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. She was recently honored by the New Hampshire Women's Bar Association for being one of the first 100 women admitted to the New Hampshire bar. Dorothy has been a lecturer on estate planning, trust administration, and probate issues for the New Hampshire Bar Association Continuing Legal Education programs and for the National Business Institute.
