Hackett received his B.A from Providence College and his law degree from Suffolk University. He has 30 years of experience in the trial of automobile, general liability, and product liability cases. After graduation, John joined the firm as an associate. In 1973, he joined CIGNA's Boston Field Litigation Office, where he was senior litigation counsel until the division was purchased by ACE-USA in 1999. John then returned to the firm and continues to specialize in the defense of civil cases. John has been a panel member and guest speaker at insurance industry seminars, has provided instruction to claims personnel, and has prepared publications such as Deflating the Economist, which describes techniques for the cross-examination of economists who testify as plaintiff's experts in substantial tort cases, and Evaluating the Neck and Lower Back Claim, which explains methods for evaluating neck and lower back claims. In November 1998, Mr. Hackett was elected a member of the Quarter Century Club of CIGNA Corporation and Affiliated Companies.
